Natural, Effective, Safes & Individualized!

The demand for alternative and complementary health services is growing exponentially and is now recognized by consumers and all levels of the government as a viable and essential component of the health care of Canadians.  Homeopaths are one of the key alternative health care practitioners highly educated in homeopathy and medical sciences that were recently regulated by the government of Ontario to fulfill this growing need.  Homeopathy as primary health care can address any family member’s mental-emotional and physical health concerns.  Homeopathy can be used curatively, preventatively or as a palliative therapy. It is beneficial in acute and first aid situations and is particularly superior in the treatment of chronic conditions, in which western medicine can only offer suppressive or controlling/maintaining treatment options.  Homeopathy has the ability to ameliorate and often resolve long standing chronic conditions naturally, gently and permanently, without the side effects of western medications.

One of the most significant advantages in seeing a Homeopath is that initial consultations last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours and follow-up appointments are 1 hour on average.  This gives the patient adequate time to fully communicate their concerns and address any questions they have regarding the healing process.  Needless to say a homeopathic case taking is very thorough and therapeutic in and of itself, as it allows patients to finally be heard.  The homeopathic case taking process also allows for a trusting and supportive relationship to develop between the patient and practitioner in a safe, relaxed and unbiased environment.

Another very important aspect of homeopathic treatment is that it is individualized.  Homeopaths treat the person with the dis-ease not the disease itself.  Everyone experiences his or her symptoms of disease in a unique and individual way regardless of a similar diagnosis.  Thus, individualized treatment is required with respect to remedy selection, potency and repetition of the remedy, as well as nutritional & lifestyle modifications.

Finally, homeopathic remedies are derived from natural sources and undergo serial dilution so that there is no chance of toxicity.  Remedies are regulated by the FDA and are required to meet certain legal standards for strength, quality and purity.  When taken under the supervision of a trained professional, homeopathic remedies are considered safe and unlikely to cause severe adverse reactions.  Although some patients may experience a brief period of aggravation of their existing symptoms, homeopaths view this positively, as it signifies the body temporarily stimulating symptoms in efforts to restore health (See FAQ – healing crisis).

Moreover, remedies are not known to interfere with conventional drugs thus they can be used integratively.  On the contrary, it is more likely that conventional medication will interfere with the action of the remedy (ie. Antidote the remedy or shorten the duration and strength of it’s action).  However, it is always important to discuss your medications with you Homeopath and your homeopathic treatment with your physician.  As your remedy begins to restore balance within the body and self-healing begins to take place, the strength of medications often must be adjusted so that patients do not suffer from side-effects from medications that may now be too strong with regards to dosage.

Homeopathic medicine is a scientific system of medicine that is based on laws that can be observed in nature.  The four main principals of homeopathy have remained unchanged over the centuries; their truth continually re-demonstrated in the successful treatment of patients both young and old!
