Green Smoothie Recipe’s

Andrea's Tips & Tricks

Always put an inch or two of liquid in the bottom of the blender first.  Add fruit (fresh or frozen) and blend well.  THEN add your greens, more fruit, more liquid, and blend.  And then always more and more greens.

Start slowly - use 1 cup of greens for your first smoothie and from there increase the green content to as much as you like (ex. 3-4 cups of greens).

Add a form of vegetarian protein like chia seeds or hemp hearts to help sustain your energy.  And for extra health benefits don’t forget to add sprouted seeds!

Also, if you have a good blender, don’t hesitate to add other vegetables such as baby carrots, beets and broccoli.  The recipes are only suggestions – use your imagination and whatever you have in your fridge!

Freeze your greens!  If you like a cold smoothie that isn't chunky, it is helpful to freeze your greens especially kale and swiss chard.  Freeze your greens in serving size plastic freezer bags.

During the winter months when greens are harder to come by, purchase boxed spinach OR a greens powder to suppliment your smoothie with extra green energy.  Liquid Chloraphyll is another way to boost the green content.
